The objective of the Women’s Bond Club Scholarship Program is to award a scholarship to a young woman in high school who is looking to advance in a career in business/finance.

The $10,000 scholarship is merit based and is awarded to the student over the course of 4 years ($2,500/year) to pay for books, expenses, etc. The award does not impact further financial aid consideration. Proof of registration is required prior to each year’s scholarship payment. School transcript after each semester is also required to verify GPA.

The WBC Scholarship Program is available to a select number of NYC public high schools with a business curriculum. Each school is allowed up to 3 applications. While the New York City Department of Education has many public high schools, the WBC offers the scholarship to business-oriented high schools in Manhattan, as a method of narrowing the number of schools. The schools are:

Scholarship Eligibility Guidelines

The award will be granted to a student who must:

• be a female high-school senior
• be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• be on the honor roll or achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• must show demonstrated proficiency in business and math courses
• achieve a minimum SAT score of 1000, as defined by the Department of Education
• be a demonstrated leader (in academic or extracurricular activities)
• should be well-rounded (participating in clubs or other extracurricular activities)
• clearly show interest in business, preferably finance
• apply to 4-year accredited colleges
• meet the standards of the college they attend and remain in good standing in their program
• enroll for a minimum of 12 credits per semester
• maintain a minimum GPA (3.0)
• maintain a minimum grade in each class taken (C)
• provide one teacher recommendation (from business or math teacher)
• deliver a 5-minute speech at a WBC function on being awarded the scholarship

Since 2000, the WBC Scholarship Program has awarded 10 well-deserving young women from high schools in the New York metropolitan area including High School of Economics & Finance, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School, Louis D. Brandeis High School, Martin Luther King Jr. High School, Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers, and Norman Thomas High School.

Previous WBC Scholarship winners have attended colleges such as Boston University, Brandeis University, Carnegie Mellon University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, and Williams College.

These young women take top honors in their graduating class – many holding the title of Valedictorian. With hard work, perseverance, and a desire to achieve, these scholarship winners continue to perform with excellence as they enter their college years in pursuit of a career in business. In addition to outstanding academic performance, they participate in various extracurricular activities, such as volunteering in community services, holding internships at leading organizations, and joining academic programs.
